Multifunction or all-in-one printers have become much more popular than in the past and are now available at lower and lower prices.

As technology progresses, the multifunction printers available on the market deliver better prints, are faster and often much more cost-effective in terms of cost per page.

MFPs are wireless printers that often also support NFCs and include a number of additional features.

Here are some of the best WiFi printers: they’re all MFPs, but we’ve broken them down by print technology, what you can get or what’s particularly attractive.

Speaking of price, we have from time to time indicated the best one that we found on Amazon Italy. However, we suggest you to install the Keepa browser extension to find out the price trend of each product and know immediately when is the best time to buy a printer: see the suggestions in our article Amazon Discounts, how and where to find them.

If the prices reported on Amazon are significantly higher than those indicated in this article is highly likely that the printer is not currently available as “sold and shipped by Amazon”. We suggest you monitor the price with Keepa.

Before moving on to suggest the best WiFi printer models available at the moment, we suggest you read our Multifunction Printer Guide: how to choose from the features: it contains general tips on printer features and on aspects that should be kept well in mind.

In the article How to set up a WiFi printer, we presented some tips for installing and configuring a WiFi printer.

One of the Most Comprehensive and Easy to Use: Epson Premium XP-830

One of the best printers on the market today is the Epson Premium XP-830, a versatile WiFi printer that is also excellent for printing photographs.

The features offered are all those typical of a multifunction “of excellence”: print, copy, scan and even fax function (although the fax is an object of marginal use, it is still used in companies and professional studios).

The XP-830 not only handles double-sided printing (Like printing brochures double-sided), it also features an automatic document feeder (ADF) that allows multiple sheets to be fed at the same time to automate scanning and copying.

The ADF has a capacity of 30 sheets and the printer can produce 9.5 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and up to 9 ppm in color.

Like other printers in Epson’s Expression Premium range, the XP-830 printer can print directly onto optical media (CDs and DVDs).

A 4.3-inch touch display makes the Epson printer even easier to use. Its compact size makes the XP-890 suitable for use in all types of environments, especially if you have little space available.

Best Photo Printer: HP OfficeJet Pro 8725

This HP printer can be considered as the current queen of printers for the realization of quality photos, even without borders. Thermal printer (see the final part of the article Compatible cartridges for printers: how to choose the best) for the difference between thermal and piezo technology.

While the HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 is at its best in photo printing, it is still a versatile multifunction that can handle even the most common tasks, scanning (up to 1200 DPI), copying and faxing.

Direct printing from Apple mobile devices is made easy thanks to the use of the AirPrint service and you can use NFC by touching the printer with any device to send a document or photo. There is a 4.3-inch touch display.

The printer is bulky and noisy although the integrated ADF can hold up to 50 sheets while the standard drawer can hold up to 250 sheets.

Another highlight of this printer is its speed: up to 24 ppm in monochrome and 20 ppm in color.

In terms of printing costs, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 halves the cost of using a conventional laser printer by 50%, thanks in part to its large ink cartridges.

An Excellent Compromise: Brother MFC-J985DW

The Brother MFC-J985DW multifunction printer is one of the WiFi printers that has stood out for its very low operating costs and low cost per page.

The Brother in question uses huge XL cartridges that can each last up to two years, printing 300 pages per month at 70% black and 30% color.

The cost per page is one cent for monochrome prints, just under 5 cents for color prints.

Born as an office printer, Brother MFC-J985DW allows double-sided printing, supports AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Brother iPrint&Scan, WiFi Direct and Mopria (we talked about it in the article How to print with Android: the best apps).

The printer can hold up to 100 sheets and can produce up to 12 ppm in monochrome and 10 ppm in color. It can handle print media up to the US Legal size (approx. 21.6 x 35.6 cm; A4 size 21 x 29.7 cm).

The Аastest: Brother MFC-L6800DW Laser

In companies and professional studios, one of the most important requirements is to be able to count on products capable of guaranteeing excellent printing speed.

Brother MFC-L6800DW is a professional laser printer (monochrome) that allows you to print up to 48 ppm with the ability to scan 100 paper pages per minute (or 50 if set in duplex mode).

This printer holds up to 570 sheets in the main tray as well as in the accessory trays and can even be equipped with an optional cassette with a maximum capacity of 1610 sheets.

Apart from the printing speed, which is certainly the pride of this Brother laser, there are also useful features such as direct scanning to the cloud or sending to mobile devices. There’s a fax module and a host of business features like Secure Print to make sure no one else can get their hands on documents they don’t want, and Setting Lock to prevent colleagues and co-workers from arbitrarily changing their printing preferences.

Among the Most Мersatile: Epson EcoTank ET-7700

It is a printer designed for the office, able to meet the needs of professionals and small and medium enterprises.

The printer does not use traditional cartridges but refillable ink tanks: with Epson’s EcoTank printers there are no more cartridges to replace. Simply purchase Epson inks and refill each refill tank when needed.

Epson’s claimed performance is much higher than that of traditional inkjet solutions.

The Epson EcoTank ET-7700 is suitable for economical document printing (with a single black you can print up to 3,000 pages and refill costs around €10) and can produce up to 32 ppm in black and white.

The printer obviously integrates the scanner, supports duplex printing while there are no ADF and fax module.

The EcoTank ET-7700 is an excellent choice for those who want to print not only simple documents but also photos with bright colors thanks to the three color canisters and two for black and black photography. The print resolution is 5,760 x 1,440 dpi while the scanning resolution is 1,200 x 2,400 dpi (Horizontal x Vertical).

The Ultimate Low-Cost Printer: HP OfficeJet 5230

This is a truly “basic” printer that integrates a scanner, copier and fax functionality.

It is designed for those who print occasionally, and therefore highly domestic users, but who want the flexibility of a WiFi product, which can be used comfortably in any environment.

Good scanning speed: set at 150 DPI does not take more than 4 seconds to complete the operation.

The OfficeJet 5230 printer can communicate directly with PCs, notebooks, smartphones, tablets and the most popular and used cloud services: Google Drive, Dropbox, Apple iCloud. The input tray can hold up to 100 sheets.

The HP Wi Fi printer allows you to access the Instant Ink program that allows you to receive directly to the specified address, without shipping costs, the replacement cartridges so as not to run out of ink. HP automatically sends the cartridges based on the activated Instant Ink plan: more information is available at this address.

The Economical: HP Envy Photo 6220

There are plenty of printers under 100 euros: HP Envy Photo 6220, however, knows how to combine all the features of a multifunction for home use with some obvious sacrifices from the technical point of view.

The input tray is 125 sheets and the size of the individual cartridges is small: although the larger capacity black allows you to print up to 600 sheets, this inkjet is obviously limited and able to meet the most basic needs.

It also supports duplex printing, scanning and copying of documents. Suitable for those who want to spend little and have no particular need in terms of quantity of prints.

Also in this case you can take advantage of the Instant Ink service to receive new cartridges and never be without them.
